Comet Trading S.A. was incorporated in January 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland, drawing on more than 30 years of accumulated commodity-trading expertise held by its founding principals.

From our earliest days, cement and steel formed the twin pillars of our commercial activity, connecting producers across major supply origins with industrial end-users on every continent. As global trade flows evolved, so did we. Comet Trading progressively diversified into solid fuels and, in 2024, entered the agricultural sector through a dedicated fertilizer trading desk.

What sets us apart is the combination of care and continuity that only a family-owned house can provide, paired with the speed, flexibility, and market intelligence of a modern physical trading operation. Our team of around 24 professionals works across sourcing, trade finance, logistics and risk management, covering the full trade lifecycle on behalf of our counterparties.

We are independent. We are not affiliated with any producer, mining group, or financial institution. That independence is not incidental, it is the foundation of the trust our partners place in us.

Milestones that shaped Comet Trading

From a focused Geneva start-up to a diversified, multi-continent physical trading house, our growth reflects our ambition and the trust our partners have placed in us.

2017

Founded in Geneva

Comet Trading S.A. is incorporated in January 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. The company launches with a clear commercial focus on cement and steel, two commodities central to global infrastructure development, channelling more than three decades of accumulated trading expertise held by its principals into a new, independent platform.

2018 - 2021

Building a diversified physical trading house

Comet Trading expands its steel desk to encompass the full product range, from iron ore, metallurgical coal and scrap inputs to finished flat and long products. The solid fuels vertical is established, covering thermal coal and petroleum coke. A network of commercial representatives is built across Turkey, Colombia, India, Morocco and beyond, underpinning the company's ability to act as a reliable sourcing and distribution partner across multiple geographies. Trading hubs are established in Cairo, Shanghai, Dubai and London.

2022 - 2023

Deepening trade finance and logistics capabilities

Comet Trading invests in strengthening its end-to-end service offering. Dedicated trade finance, logistics coordination and market intelligence functions are formalised, enabling the company to accompany clients across the entire trade lifecycle, from initial sourcing through to final delivery. IIMA membership reinforces the company's standing within the international iron metallics community.

2024

Entry into the agricultural sector, Fertilizers

Comet Trading enters the agricultural commodities space with the launch of a dedicated fertilizer trading desk. The portfolio encompasses urea, DAP, MAP, SOP, SSP, phosphate rock and sulphur, bringing the company's sourcing, logistics and finance expertise to a new and strategically important commodity class.

From our headquarters at Rue du Rhône 100, Geneva, and through trading hubs in Cairo, Shanghai, Dubai and London, Comet Trading maintains commercial relationships across more than 14 countries on 4 continents. Our team of approximately 24 dedicated professionals continues to expand the company's reach and deepen its service offering, faithful to the family values and independence on which the house was founded.
